A few days earlier, Lumi was in deep thought on her own ship to Denki. "Returning to Denki... I never thought the day would come." Lumi thought with a sigh.
The ship sailed with no issues. The port they were heading off from was only a few days away from Denki. “Nightingale Port” was actually the only remaining port after the great revolution and it holds a significant historical value to the people of Aetherland.
The king’s daughter booked Lumi a VIP room so she can be comfortable during the trip. Lumi spent the first two days in her room reading books to distract herself away from her memories. On the third day Lumi went outside her room to check whether they were close to Denki or not. She started walking around the ship for a bit.
“Hey, wait a little! You’re fast it’s unfair”
“Huhu you have to become fast to catch me, sis”
Hearing this, Lumi looked over at the kids playing. When she saw the kids playing the scene changed into a child crying for help in the midst of a burnt down house. Seeing this horrid scene she clutched her chest as a teardrop rolled down her left cheek.
The two kids looked at Lumi with concern “Big sis, are you ok?”
Realizing what happened Lumi wiped the tear off and looked at the kids “Ah, I’m ok. You two go back to playing.”
The two kids started running again chasing each other
Lumi looked at the clouds before mumbling “After all of this… I could never forget you, could I..”
Looking across Lumi noticed that they’re just a day or two away from reaching Denki. She then decided to go back to her room to continue reading her books.
Rummaging through her belongings, She found a worn out diary with its cover slightly burnt
Lumi quickly put it away as it reminds her of what happened in the past.
Two days later the ship finally arrived at the deck. Lumi quickly started asking the locals on how to get to the capital and how long it would take. Most locals agreed that it would take approximately 6 days to get there by carriage, which Lumi didn’t mind as her meeting with general Tia Krul was in 8 days.
“Over here, Young miss. This is the carriage”
Lumi headed there immediately. She wanted to get there as fast as possible to get ready with the hotel and to be able to organize her stuff.
Unlike Aetherland and Wintervile, Denki has a lot more monsters on the road, and through the forests. So for Lumi, protecting the carriage was perfect for practicing and killing time. The drivers had tried to pay for her efforts but she declined the payment as she believed it was the strong’s duty to protect the weak.
After a tiring 6-day journey they finally arrived at the gate.
As they were approaching the guards the driver asked “Oi, Young miss. I got a small question”
“Go ahead”
“Is your adventurer’s license new?”
“No, I’ve had it for almost 10 years now”
“Ok good, we’ll have no trouble then”
Lumi looked confused but preferred not to ask about it. She only wanted to get to the capital and that’s it.
A guard stopped the carriage and asked for everyone’s license whether driver or adventurer. They all gave the guard their license and he started checking it.
“Open the gate they’re good” The guard said whilst handing the licenses back.
“Phew.. That was a close one. Hey Zack! You gotta go to Riko to edit the date on it you moron!”
Lumi was even more puzzled and then she looked at the driver who invited her to the trip before asking, “Why is the date important?”
The driver looked back at her with a bit of disappointment on his face, “The guards haven’t been told about the changes with the licensing for 8 years so any new license is rejected. Luckily for Zack, his looks ragged enough to be considered old and that guard there has poor eyesight too so we were saved.”
As they entered the capital, Lumi left the carriage before thanking the driver. Then she headed towards her hotel room.
