Battle Against the Unknown (2)

“Hello, Einzbern-dono. I’ll be your guide today for your first day at the organization.”

A man welcomed Allen as they entered the organization headquarters. He didn’t seem very old but he certainly had hints of grey hair to him.

“Yes, sir!. I’ll be in your care!” Allen replied stiffly but with a little determination in his voice

The man nodded his head then signaled for them to start heading forward. The organization was a massive building. It did look like a bunch of metal sheets were strapped onto a wall since the entrance was made out of a giant robot’s arm.

Allen was in awe. He thought it looked really cool for a place to have that kind of decor.

“You’re taking a liking to this place already?” the man looked at Allen with a smirk on his face “You haven’t seen anything yet, kiddo.”

Upon hearing that, Allen noticed he wasn’t on his best behavior but it was too late for that. His love for industrial looking things slipped through to the man guiding him.

They kept walking forward for what felt like a while until eventually reaching the actual door to the facility itself.

“By the way sir.” Allen raised his hand politely

“What is it ”

“I haven’t actually asked you about your name. It feels rude calling you ‘You’ or you might be annoyed by me calling you ‘sir’ constantly.” Allen kept his hand up tilting his head to the side a little.

“Call me Abyss.”

Allen looked even more confused. “Abyss” wasn’t something he was expecting to hear.

“Of course we’re using code names here, Kiddo”

Allen’s eyes shined a little in excitement “So I can pick any name?!”

“Anything.”

“I’ll be Chaos then!” Allen’s face full of excitement

Abyss nodded his head signaling them to continue walking forward.

What felt like miles of walking finally ended for a little when they arrived in front of a giant door.

“We’re coming in.” Abyss stated as he opened the door

Allen was shocked, scared, and in awe. He saw massive dragons roaming around the room with a single giant red dragon. An S-Rank monster from what he read when he passed by the adventurer’s guild or what he overheard through the days of being a blacksmith.

He also saw a figure floating in mid-air with her hands in the position of a prayer. The figure started to slowly descend down to meet them. Her eyes looked like she was unamused by Allen being in the room at all.

“Hello.”

“Flamebringer, I want you to meet this new recruit.”

Allen was so shocked and scared he forgot to introduce himself. Flamebringer however, her eyes relaxed a little and seemed a little gentle.

Flamebringer was still 14 at the time, Allen being 18 of course.

“Hello. Hope you have fun.” Her tone seemed cold as in *Get out of my room* kind of tone.

“I’ll be in your care.” Allen replied bowing his head a little

To his surprise, She didn’t seem too bothered by whether he did introduce himself or not.

**Present**

“Are you going to stand watching?” Amilia looked at everyone with a serious face.

Everyone got back to their feet and took their positions.

The task at hand was to deal with the dragon first. An S-Rank monster was going to go rogue if his master was killed before they dealt with it.

Yuuji out of options looked to his side and realized they’re basically 2 parties

The first thought to pop into his mind was to split up. Tia’s party would stall Flamebringer while they took out the dragon. But before he could even say it out loud Tia spoke up

“Oi, Yer party can handle that dragon. We’ll deal with that flyin’ lady.”

Everyone could hear the plan. They nodded and immediately started moving forward.

Tia activated her skill and so did Charlotte. Their skills weren’t magic meaning they needed to activate it using their weapons.

Tia’s body became bigger than it was turning into her *wolf* form while Charlotte’s weapon started to glow at the blades, Lumi used a special skill on her weapon.

Normally she doesn’t need to do that as she can cast spells and use a sword easily, but this time she infused her sword with her ice magic.

“O Mighty snow, Bestow a gift upon us to defeat all evil. Ice Boost!” Amilia clinched her staff with her eyes eyes closed and cast a damage boosting spell on all her party members

“You got it from here, boys!” Allen said as he leapt forward

Kazuma and Yuuji followed soon after him.

It was rumored that red giant dragons die by cutting their heads off but others said it was the stomach. The plan depended on some probability here or there.

Allen jumped up, reinforcing his jump with his crystal to make it higher then he started shooting at the dragon to grab its attention

“RAAAAWR”

The dragon emitted an ear deafening roar showing his anger at Allen.

“YOU GOT IT FROM HERE ON OUT BOYS!”

As Allen said that, Yuuji and Kazuma ran straight for the neck, but the dragon managed to evade both their blades, knocking Yuuji away with his tail.

“Tsk.” Kazuma clicked his tongue loudly clearly angry at missing his strike

Allen looked at the dire situation and started to fire infused arrows at the dragon again. Seeing that the dragon is simply swinging his neck around and avoiding his arrows, Allen used his magic to create a water sword and decided to jump for the head.

Kazuma decided to pick up the chance of the dragon avoiding Allen’s blade to go for the neck himself too.

But just as both jumped to try and predict where the neck would go the dragon flecked his head away from both blades.

Both Allen and Kazuma looked back in shock and hopelessness but to both of their surprise Yuuji appeared out of nowhere with his glowing sword.

“RAAAAAAAWRRRRRR”

The dragon let out a loud cry as Yuuji’s sword hit him on the neck

“NOW!” Allen yelled at Kazuma to try and strike again but it was the unexpected Amilia who fired

“O Mighty snow, Punish those who disobey you and those who mean harm to us. ICE SHARD!”

As soon as Amilia finished chanting a large icicle shot through the dragon’s neck splitting it in two.
