‘It’s been a day since we set off on our journey. The old man said that we’d be passing through a forest full of monsters, and that we’ll be resting through the night. So we decided to split it into shifts. Morning shift is Me and Amilia, While the night shift is going to be Allen and Kazuma. We didn’t really consider Mr. Gerscheck since he doesn’t really look like he’s used to adventuring and we definitely didn’t want him to look bad before meeting his soon to be wife.’
The old man pointed at a spot that looked flat enough and decently spacious “We’ll set up camp right here”
Everyone looked really tired at that point. They were basically having only 3-4 hours of sleep at night and even so it was mostly interrupted by bumps across the road or the uncomfort from the carriage.
Yuuji looked at his party “Everyone, we're gonna rework the shift for tonigh–”
But before he could continue talking Albert jumped in “I’ll take tonight’s shift!”
Everyone looked at him with their mouths slightly open
“I may not look like it but I’m a silver rank adventurer” Albert confidently said before showing off his silver plate
Yuuji with a nervous laughter filled with concern about letting a silver rank handle it “But Mr. Gerscheck we don’t want to burden you”
“Don’t worry! If something bad happens I’ll wake you up!” Albert responded back with confidence
Seeing as there was no hope of stopping him everyone nodded their head and they decided to let it be. On the condition that, Albert wakes them up in trouble.
Everyone started setting up camp. Yuuji and Amilia set up the campfire, While Kazuma and Allen set up the tents. Albert went to gather some branches to help with the campfire. Everyone sat around and had some food before they decided to get some sleep. Leaving Albert in charge of this shift.
‘My plan is working out greatly. Man, I thought that old man would just keep going and just switch who leads the horses at night. Oh well, It doesn’t matter anymore. As long as I’m able to contact his majesty, Everything will be ok. Sorry, Yuuji Wakana. You’re going to be monster meat’ Albert thought to himself as he was activating a weird device
The device looked like an orb. It’s used to send messages just like a phone would do but the messages are sent by mana.
As soon as Albert sent the message, his orb blinked 3 times. Giving him the signal that the plan is underway.
“How interesting. I’ll send two dragons to deal with that situation..”
As the message was being sent, Amilia was also awake to drink some water. Upon seeing this Amilia rushed to wake everyone up, barely making it in time before the monsters showed up.
Albert, who was running away from the spot to escape the dragons, mumbled to himself ‘Hmm.. That wasn’t my plan but, Lady Flamebringer’s dragons are no joke. I’ll make a run for it while they’re busy fighting’
A horde of monsters came running at our party. They looked as if they were escaping from something big and scary. A few moments later a loud roar was heard throughout the entire forest.
Kazuma waved his arm to the rest of the party “Everyone, Be careful here”
From amidst the thick forest emerged a giant red dragon. Its roar made monsters fear for their life.
Everyone stared at it in shock. It stayed like this until Kazuma shouted at them “Everyone! get your act together! Amilia put up a barrier. We have to get out now!”
Everyone ran straight for the carriage. Luckily, The old man was ready to go already
“Hurry up! We have to get to the capital now!” Kazuma instructed the old man
The carriage took off as fast as it could. The carriage could easily traverse the forest faster than the dragon as it was small enough.
Yuuji looked back “No good. It’s following us”
Allen pushed the old man back into the carriage as he took the lead “Leave it to me! I know a few tricks here or there!” As he said that he started going in different directions to confuse the dragon as much as he could
After a while, The dragon’s roars began to go quieter
“Is it gone now?” Amilia said cautiously
“Whether it’s gone or not, We have to get to the capital as fast as possible” Yuuji replied as he looked back at the destruction caused by the dragon
‘Such an interesting bunch.. but unfortunately for you.. I’m going to chase you to the capital with my dragons..’
