“There sure are a lot of people going to the raid.” Yuuji subconsciously said as he looked at the nearly 200 soldiers waiting in formation just outside the walls.
“Well, the base is quite large, right Kazuma?” Allen replied. Kazuma only nodded in response.
“I see…” Yuuji mumbled, it is comforting to have a large amount of people, but he felt like something bad was gonna happen once they set off. “But wouldn’t that leave Suijin vulnerable? I mean, you know A-”
“You four, are you the party that’s joining the raid?” A man clad in plate armor asked while walking towards the group.
“Yes we are.” Allen replied while smiling.
“Great, come over here.”
“So, what are we waiting for?”
“We’re waiting for the General, he’ll give us orders and the plan of action.”
Allen continued to talk with the man whilst the group stood on the side waiting for the General to come. Not long later, Maho, surrounded by men in armor, came out of the gates of Suijin.
“Thank you all for coming.” Maho bowed to everyone. “Your actions will not go unnoticed today.”
Hushed whispers ran throughout the mass of soldiers. They all felt something was wrong when they saw the smile that was plastered on Maho’s face.
“Um, Miss Maho, did something happen?” Amilia blurted out after hearing the whispers from the soldiers.
“Be quiet! The Shrine Priestess would like to give you all a speech before you leave!” One of the men shouted completely causing the whispers to disappear and causing Amilia to shrivel up.
“Thank you.” Maho gave the man a smile before facing everyone again. “The goddess is eternally grateful for what you all have volunteered for, these monsters are threatening the livelihood of the entire nation of Suijin. For the sake of this nation, your families and friends put an end to these threats!”
As these words entered the ears of everyone, their vigor for completing this raid intensified… But beneath that, they all felt there was more to be said but Maho stayed silent.
“As for who will be leading this raid, Sir Yuuji please come up here.”
‘What?’ An overwhelming feeling of confusion swept over Yuuji. Why the heck am I leading this raid? He couldn’t help but wonder to himself. A few moments of beckoning from Maho, Yuuji walked up to her. He turned back to his companions who had smiles on their faces aside from Kazuma.
“This brave hero and his companions were pivotal in finding the base and some concerning information…” Maho drew a long breath before continuing. “Due to that, the generals have to stay back. But, I have faith this brave hero will lead you all to victory!”
“Sir Yuuji would you like to say anything?”
“Uh-eh?” Yuuji stared at Maho blankly for a second. “Uh…” His companions looked at him with smiles while Allen gave a thumbs up. “We will… win against these monsters for the sake of this nation and the entire world…!” He exclaimed while raising a fist into the air.
“WOOOOOOOOO!!!” A loud roar erupted from Allen. Many roars followed soon after signaling the readiness of everyone.
“Bravo sir Yuuji, t-that was a great yet short speech!” The man they first met exclaimed when Yuuji walked back to his group.
“T-Thank you…” Yuuji thanked him with a stiff smile. ‘How the hell am I going to lead everyone?’ Yuuji looked at the group of soldiers, it was clear by his expression he had no idea what to do.
A short while later, everyone set off. Leading the front was Yuuji and his group, with Allen leading everyone to their destination.
